Children and Families

North Church is a place where faith, imagination and learning go hand in hand. We guide and encourage children to grow in their faith and desire to serve others as followers of Jesus. Through creative, age-appropriate, Bible-based experiences with friends and caring leaders, we provide children with the opportunity to grow, serve, pray, and have fun!

Sunday school is held weekly at 9:45 a.m. for toddlers on up.

Alternative worship meets on non-Communion Sundays during the 11 a.m. service from September through May. It is for children who are in kindergarten through second grade. During the final verse of the designated hymn or prayer, children may follow the banner to the back of the sanctuary and then on to the education wing.

ELEVATION is for third- through fifth-graders. It is held on the second and fourth Sundays except during the summer from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Child care is available on Sundays from 8:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for infants through 5-year-olds. All caregivers are CPR/first aid-certified, background checked, and experienced working with children.

Children can also serve as acolytes (third through sixth grade) and as members of our three children’s choirs (please see the “Music” section).  They also assist with worship services on the first Sunday of the month by being a liturgist, greeter, usher, serving communion, etc.

North hosts many special events for children, including movie nights, retreats, outings to sports events, “fun days,” an Easter egg hunt, arts and crafts, Trunk or Treat, game nights, picnics, etc. The children’s ministry even holds “Parents’ Night Out” events to further assist families.

Any child who is under the care of North Church for any reason (child care, classes, events, etc.) must have a family information form on file at our office.

The children’s ministry offers a separate e-newsletter as its primary channel of communication.

For more information please email Amy Sell, our minister of discipleship and formation.
