Amy, the minister of discipleship and formation, grew up on a farm in northwest Indiana. She attended the University of Indianapolis, where she studied physical education and sports administration. She also minored in religion. She attended Asbury Theological Seminary and received a master’s degree in youth ministry. She will begin the process of finishing her MDiv in 2022.
Prior to serving at North she worked for more than five years in Appalachia at Henderson Settlement, one of our United Methodist mission institutions. While there she worked with children and youth and did a significant amount of fundraising and development work for Henderson Settlement. She began working with youth while in high school and has spent the last two decades and a half working with children, youth, and families. Although an introvert, Amy loves working with people and helping them realize how much God loves them. Amy is married to Sharon (Shorty) Hatfield. They have four small, neurotic dogs that they love and make their home complete. Amy also loves spending time with her five nieces and nephews, who are always up for an adventure of hiking, kayaking, camping, singing crazy songs, and playing board games.
