The Richard E. and Anna Lee Hamilton Series on Theology and Contemporary Issues brings speakers, seminars, and special musical events to North UMC on various issues.
Please join us on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2026, when the Hamilton Series will continue the discussion about mental health we started in April! Our special guest will be author, minister, and podcaster David Finnegan-Hosey.
Rev. Finnegan-Hosey will present the keynote address at 1 p.m. after he delivers the sermon during our 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship services. He will also teach a Sunday school class at 9:45 a.m.
During the worship services we’ll also debut a new anthem by Dr. Matthew Kennedy that was commissioned by the Hamilton Series. It will be performed by North’s Chancel Quartet during the 8:30 a.m. service and by North’s Cathedral Singers during the 11 a.m. service. Both groups are under the direction of our music director, Dr. Theo Hicks. Dr. Heather Hinton (grand piano) and Dr. Kurt Fowler (cello) will accompany the vocalists.
A free lunch will precede the keynote address. Please RSVP to Events@NorthChurchIndy.com by Friday, Oct. 30 for the lunch.
The Hamilton series was established in 2018 with a gift from the William E. Schmidt Foundation. It honors the lives and ministries of Dick and Anna Lee Hamilton at North UMC. Dick served as the senior pastor at North from 1974 through 1997 and was known for his work in the city and state on issues of social justice and Christian action. Anna Lee was a talented partner in ministry, adding her singing, teaching, and leadership skills to the church and wider community.
Additional support for the Hamilton Series is provided by Nick and Susan Blankenbaker Noyes and the Blankenbaker family, as well as gifts from individuals in memory of Dick and Anna Lee. North UMC and the Hamilton family are very grateful for these generous gifts, and they hope the public will enjoy these events offered free of charge.
