Bread and Bowl
A soup kitchen provided for the community each Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon.
Vendors from Indiana provide fresh produce and lifestyle items for the North Church Farmers Market (formerly known as the 38th & Meridian Farmers Market) on the first and third Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. between the months of June and September.
Engage! Summer Youth Employment and Mentoring Program
Teens from the community participate in understanding basic job readiness concepts, experiencing hands-on job learning, and mentoring by working adults. This personalized project will all lead to job coaching and employment in the community.
The Green Team explores ways to help us become more faithful stewards of the earth’s resources, advocate for responsible environmental public policies, educate us about the environment and animal rights, and create opportunities to experience and celebrate God’s creation. The Green Team helps guides the church and community in ways that make us faithful stewards of God’s Great Creation.
Justice and Advocacy
Justice and Advocacy Team advocates on local, state, national and even international issues that North UMC considers significant. Recently, JAT voted to join IndyCAN and will continue to seek ways to promote immigration reform. Find more information on its Facebook page.
Mid-North Food Pantry
North supports Marion County’s second largest food pantry by hosting food drives during the months of January and June. Members and volunteers also help stock the pantry and distribute food on a weekly basis.
Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN)
North partners with congregations in Indianapolis to combat homelessness by housing families for two weeks. Every year the congregation provide meals, activities and tutoring for children.
Each August members collect school supplies and uniforms for children at James Riley (IPS #43) elementary school. Throughout the school year members provide tutoring, parental and teacher support.
On the second Saturday in December members and volunteers provide encouragement and integrity to mothers from Coburn Place by wrapping Christmas presents for their children. Gifts are donated by members of the congregation.
On the first Saturday in December, North hosts an annual Christmas celebration for special needs persons residing in the Indianapolis area. Visit our YouTube channel to see videos from past celebrations.
Faith Care Teams
Teams of six to eight persons support formerly incarcerated citizens through the challenging efforts to re-enter society. These teams model the caring ministry of Jesus by providing an additional level of support beyond limited social services and fractured family relationships.
Use What You’ve Got Prison Ministry
North Church partners with this prison visitation ministry to support families and friends of incarcerated persons by traveling to Indiana correctional facilities.
