The purpose of the North library is to support the mission of the church by being a resource and reference center. Our goal is to provide materials and services in a warm and friendly atmosphere to inspire children, youth, and adults to study and grow in their Christian faith.
The library is open every Sunday from 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 pm. At all other times, it is available for use by making a request to the church office to open the library.
What You Will Find
At the present time, there are approximately 4,170 titles in books, DVDs, CDs, audiotapes, large type books, magazines, and reference materials. All items, except reference materials, may be checked out for three weeks. Reference materials are to be used in the library only.
Materials are geared to all age groups: Adults, youth, and children. There are many resource materials which are available to classes, study groups, and individuals. While there is a large range of subject matter, there are many books that relate to spiritual growth, the Christian life, and devotional aids. There are several Bible commentaries which are helpful in Bible study.
Other topics available include parenting; social justice; music; art; Methodist history, including books about John Wesley; Christian fiction; and biographies.
Book Fair & Donated Items
Each spring, the Library Committee holds a book fair where members can purchase books and audiovisuals for the library in honor of or in memory of family and friends. These purchases become a permanent addition to the collection.
Donated items are welcome if they are relevant for a church library, are of recent copyright dates, and are clean with no markings.
The Library Committee is chaired by Katy Meredith, librarian; Frances Cain, assistant; and members Jane Bonwell, Daphne Chen, Carolyn Pennington, Maurice Rembert, Kristen Wolfram, and Joe Wood.
